Draft: Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026. This policy is a working draft and may change before the site officially launches.
Who we are
SoloPhilippines.com (“we”, “us”) is an educational, travel and lifestyle publication for men considering solo travel and seasonal living in the Philippines. Our website address is https://solophilippines.com. You can reach us through our Contact page.
What we collect
- Contact form: If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. We use them only to reply to you.
- Comments: If you leave a comment, we collect the details in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string made from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics (through the MonsterInsights plugin) to see which pages are read and how visitors find us. It uses cookies and collects data such as your approximate location, device and browser. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you.
- AI chatbot: If you use our AI travel guide, the questions you type are processed by an AI service to produce an answer. Please do not enter passwords, financial details, government ID numbers or other sensitive personal information. The chatbot is an automated tool, not a person.
- Store: If we open a store, we will collect the order, billing and shipping details needed to fill your order. Payments are handled by the payment provider we name at checkout; we do not store full card numbers.
Cookies
The site and its analytics set cookies. If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email and website in cookies for one year. Logged-in users receive login cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.
Embedded content and links
Articles may include embedded content, such as videos or maps, and links to other websites. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction. We do not control them, so please read their privacy policies. If we later join an affiliate program, we will mark affiliate links clearly and tell you we may earn a commission.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run the site (hosting, analytics, spam filtering, the chatbot, email and, if applicable, payments), and when the law requires it.
How long we keep data
Comments and their details are kept until removed. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to answer and follow up. Analytics data is kept according to our analytics settings.
Your choices
You can ask us to send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or to correct or erase it, except where we must keep it for legal or security reasons. Use our Contact page to make a request. If you are in the Philippines, you also have rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012; if you are in the EU or UK, similar rights apply under local law.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date at the top when we do. See also our Terms and Disclaimer.
